Empire Airways: Air Charter Choices
How to choose an Aircraft to
Charter
The first three questions that need to be answered when selecting an aircraft
for charter are
1. How many passengers will be traveling 2. How far are
you going and 3. How much baggage will you have? Probably The next
most important is budget. There
is often a trade-off when selecting charter aircraft. Most trips less than
500 miles are best served economically by turbo props. Trips over 600 miles
are almost always better served by jets.

Turbo Prop (4-30
Passengers)
Turboprop aircraft combine the low-cost advantages of the piston aircraft while
sharing some of the performance and cabin comfort advantages of light jets. Turboprops
are powered by turbine (jet) engines which turn a propeller. With average
cruising speeds of over 250 mph and an average nonstop range above 800 miles,
a turboprop can travel further, faster and offer more comfort than piston aircraft
while keeping charter costs below those of jet aircraft. Popular for short
to mid-range flights, (100-500 miles) turboprops can access runways that are
often too short for jet aircraft. Turbo-props often include amenities
such as pressurized passenger cabins for added comfort, safety and performance
and a semi-private lavatory.

Light Jets (4-8 Passengers)
Light jets are the entry-level jet class in
the charter industry. Light jets are the most
economical choice for short to mid-range trips. Light
jets can travel further and faster than non-jet aircraft
while operating in and out of airports not accessible
by the major airlines. Trips of between 400-1000
miles are perfect for light jets. Light jets
have limited baggage capacity.

Mid Sized Jets (5-9 Passengers)
Midsize Jet aircraft optimally blend comfort, performance
and economy for medium length flights. With average
cruising speeds over 500 mph and a nonstop range of
about 2,100 miles, a midsize jet can travel further,
faster and with more comfort then light jets while
operating in and out of airports not accessible by
the major airlines. Most of the midsize jet aircraft
have external baggage storage and accommodate a reasonable
amount of baggage. Most midsize jets offer a
private lavatory.

Jet Airliners (20-200+ Passengers)
Can meet any size group needs and can travel to any destination. While
expensive and priced according to mission, if you have a lot of people, they
can be cost effective.

Helicopters (5-6 Passengers)
Helicopters can be the alternative to flying
when certain restrictions are an issue such as small
landing areas. Helicopters may also provide an
economical advantage over chartering a plane. Helicopters
can be the better choice for short trips, with
the capability to land in and out of downtown areas,
you have complete access to and from major airports
in a matter of moments. Helicopter Charter is
an excellent choice for aerial tours, photo shoots,
or flying to or from your private jet during rush hour. Click
